Friday's Surprise, and a Plea

[info]leahbobet pointed out last week that Alyssa Smith, aka [info]aqeldroma, an editor and one of the slush readers for Ideomancer, suffered a total-loss house fire. That means clothes, keepsakes, books, pets, walls, ceilings, everything.

I wish I'd noticed this sooner, because I might have been able to do this sooner. I don't actually know [info]aqeldroma, but I've seen the inside of many house fires during and after the excitement. Even when we manage to save a structure, the damage can be mind-boggling. I suppose I take this a bit personally.

[info]rosefox set up a PayPal donation button to send money toward [info]aqeldroma to help get her over this pretty serious hump. She has a job, but I'm sure you can imagine what a godawful loss this is. Now, if only I had something to offer to entice you to donate if you can. Oh wait...

I've posted the first half of Chapter 5, "On Martian Wings." That's another 3500 words or so and a total of 32,000 words of free fiction for your amusement. If you've enjoyed even part of it, please consider donating whatever you can to lend [info]aqeldroma a hand.

PLEASE NOTE that I am rather dim-witted at copying PayPal buttons, so you'll find more info and the donation button HERE. The donation buttons on my website are not the ones I'm asking you to click in this instance.

I'll post the second half of Chapter 5 next Friday, June 25, and we'll go from there as often as my anxiety attacks permit.

This is awesome! I did the same thing last week with a short story ("A New Beginning" - superhero/villain themed) so now folks can "double dip" and get two bits of free fiction for their donations!

If you don't mind, I'll add a link here, and note your generous offer on my blog as well.

Thank you. What a nice surprise to wake up to this morning. I appreciate you helping to raise awareness of this and the story donation is very generous of you.
I may have some good news about a new place to live (and soon a new blog post) but don't want to tempt Murphy until things are signed. He and I aren't on the best of terms right now!

Friday's Surprise, and a Plea

Murphy is a scary fellow! I'll send my wishes and a dollar or two the next time I'm around a real computer ( 'cause my phone can handle moden stuff as buttons)!

I raise a beer in your general direction!

There was a near-fire in one of the kitchens in my block a few days ago. Of course I'm willing to donate a few dollars.

Keep doing the stuff you do best, Scott, you're amazing.
